ALEXANDRA B. MUÑOZ

Pre-Doctoral Fellow • NYU • Molecular & Genetic Toxicology

Alexandra Muñoz is a member of the laboratory headed by Dr. Max Costa, a leader in toxic metals research. Dr. Costa has a long history of working to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that underlie the toxic responses associated with heavy metal exposure. Beginning with a seminal investigation into nickel particulate uptake in the 1980's and moving to investigations of nickel's epigenetic regulation, Dr. Costa has impacted the field and helped shape the study of metals. Currently, the lab focuses on understanding the gene expression changes induced in response to a range of metals including arsenic, chromium, cobalt, nickel, and vanadium.
